I have long been opposed to "whispering assholes" like Jack Johnson and James Blunt. Their mellow and melodic songs are enough to put a colicky baby to sleep. I'm a virile young man with way too much energy to spend three and half minutes sitting quietly as some jerk whispers about a girl. The new John Mayer single, however, did catch me by surprise.
